Be prepared that the Misk College Prep Program is highly demanding. You’ll need to dedicate considerable time to it over the next two years, while in school and also over your summer vacations.

If you’re thinking of applying:

  • Are you sure you can commit so much time over the next two years?
  • Have you discussed it with your parents? Do they understand that, while we won’t conduct any programs over Ramadan and Eid, you will be:
    • abroad for most of the summer.
    • in classes for much of the summer after your 11th grade year: taking preparation classes for college entrance exams and completing your college application?

You need to make sure your parents understand you won’t be able to take holidays with them at these times. Please be aware that you can only remain in the program by attending the programs and classes.

Being accepted by the Prep Program is only the first step. To remain eligible you will be regularly assessed, over the 24-month period, in the following areas:

  • Commitment

We’re looking for students who are personally committed, highly engaged, enthusiastic and happy to be part of an intense program. Your willingness to commit is vital; you must genuinely want to be part of the program, rather than doing so to please others.

You are expected to take part in all planned activities and programs. We will always expect you to be on time. If you do not attend planned sessions and events, this will make you ineligible to continue the program.

  • Satisfactory progress

We choose students who have potential to grow and develop. By the end of the program, you will be expected to have developed the skills needed gain admission at a top-tier university. If we feel you’re not making satisfactory progress or aren’t suited to the course, you will be removed from the program.

Am I right for this program?

If you think you might be right for this program, have a look at the characteristics below – do you see yourself in them?

The exceptional students we’re looking for share some un-common traits. If you can answer yes to some of the questions below, and want to be able to answer ‘yes’ to more, you should consider applying.

Do you master what’s taught in school and then go home to explore more? Are you intellectually curious and always need to know why? Do you challenge ideas and seek the truth? Are you courageous enough to make mistakes and learn from them, to find the right method or answer?

Do you see opportunities to make a surprising leap forward or fill a gap?  Can you then take action: turning your vision into reality? Are you persistent and ready to learn from setbacks? Are you willing to ask for help and network to find the right advisor or mentor?

Leadership potential

Are you ready to become a young leader who will help transform Saudi Arabia? Are you ready to lead with an innovative idea or spot innovation and help bring it to life?  Do you have a strong imagination to see what’s possible, before it’s possible?

Community engagement

Are you engaged with your community? Do you co-operate with others to co-create and spark new ideas?

Passionate about Saudi Arabia

Are you proud of what’s great about Saudi Arabia but also honest and compassionate about its flaws, with a willingness to address them?

No one expects all this from you today

You’re not expected you to be all these things just yet. But we want students who are curious, bold, open-minded, smart and willing to take risks. You should be excited about the prospect of jumping into this dynamic, creative and challenging endeavour.

We hope you’ll be intelligent enough to feel overwhelmed and nervous about this opportunity, but excited by the thought being part of a life-long group who will – most certainly and with real determination – create a more dynamic Saudi Arabia.

Please don’t think we expect you to achieve all this alone, it’s quite the opposite. You should be ready to build life-long network of personal connections, who will support each other and help Saudi Arabia.

Tips for Applying

We strongly recommend that you immediately:

  1. Register for the English language proficiency test
  2. Register if you want to take an in-person TOEFL preparation class. AMIDEAST and many other ESL institutes offer classes around the Kingdom.

    • You must be able to prove your proficiency in English through standardized testing. We prefer that you take the TOEFL iBT but will accept most major standardized tests (paper-based TOEFL ITP, IELTS Academic, Duolingo Test).
    • If you’ve already taken the English language proficiency, you can use those scores. If your score doesn’t show your current level of ability, you should take the exam again.
    • For more information, please go to “English Language Tests” section

  • Recommendations
    • You must submit two online recommendation forms, for your application to be considered complete and eligible for consideration. You’ll be prompted to provide contact information for Two teachers.

Selection process

At Misk, we carefully review every applicant. We’re looking for students who will challenge themselves, inspire others and play a key role in the future of Saudi Arabia. Our process consists of three stages:

First Round: Applications

As you would expect our selection process is extremely competitive. We’re expecting thousands of applicants from a wide range of backgrounds. Successful applicants will have shown: exceptional academic achievement, leadership, extracurricular activity participation and strong character.

Second Round: Interviews

During this round we choose finalists for a one-on-one interview with a member of the Admission team. At this stage we’re evaluating character, achievements, readiness to participate in an intense preparation program, and potential for receiving admission offers from leading universities.

Final offers

The Fellowship will select the new cohort of the extraordinary 10th graders for the 2-year college-prep program and offers will be made. While this stage represents success in the selection process, it is only the beginning of the most challenging part of all, participation in the program itself.

We understand that nothing is more important than your child and you want to spend as much time with them as possible. We also know the value of holidays, when you can travel with them spend quality time together. If you want to have them with you for every vacation, the sacrifice may be too great and the MISK Fellowship may not be right for your child and family.

However, if you and your child are excited about the opportunity, you will need to  encourage them to attend the scheduled training.  This includes:

  • Summer school in the US and other international locations
  • Training for much of the summer: taking prep classes for college entrance exams and completing their college application

Cultural respect

We understand the importance of young people’s cultural and religious and responsibilities. Therefore we guarantee that no MISK training events will be scheduled during Ramadan and the Eid vacation.

Attendance and commitment

Please be aware that for your child to stay in the program they need to attend all program events.  Misk is willing to invest considerable time, energy and funds to help your child to be accepted at a top universities around the world. And we know you have the same ambition for them. Each part of our program has been designed specially with this goal in mind. And every part of the program is important, so we ask for your unwavering commitment, to encourage your child to attend, so they can reap the benefits of the program.
