About the competition
Once upon a time, there were “storytellers” roaming from one city to another, carrying fascinating tales and news to be told to the world. Not only children but old people too were eager to listen to these stories!
This year, Misk Foundation presents “The Storyteller” competition for talented people as a unique event during “Hakaya Misk” Festival.
After the pre-qualification stages, ten contestants will be chosen to attend the workshop of “Storytellers’ Forum” under the supervision of experts in the field to improve their stories and prepare them for live competition in front of an audience and the judges at the closing ceremony.
Join the competition
Provide us with your information.
Chose a story, Any story! It could be a story you have been through or heard from someone else. Or it could be an inspiring story of a public figure, a folk tale, or simply a story you like. It does not matter where from you heard the story; what matters is how you tell it!
Turn a camera on. Any camera around you! Whether a professional one of your phone camera.
Videotape a short video (1:30 – 3 minutes) of yourself telling a story in your own talented way.
Make sure the voice and image are clear.
You could speak in classical or standard Arabic language.
Upload the video on YouTube and provide us with the link.
Important dates
Registration starts on July 10, 2017, and ends on July 22, 2017.
You will be informed about your registration status via e-mail on July 24, 2017.
Accepted participants will be interviewed in Riyadh on July 26, 2017. If your residence is elsewhere, we will arrange for your visit to Riyadh for the interview.
Stages of the competition
Competition Requirements:
The participant must be 16 years old or more;
A guardian must accompany participants aged less than 18 years old;
Both genders can participate in the competition;
Saudis citizens and foreign residents in Saudi Arabia can participate in the competition;
The story content must be in Arabic;
The registration form must be filled thoroughly.
Competition Awards
First place:
– The title of “The Storyteller” and the Gold Cloak.
– +30K SR Prize.
Second place:
– The Silver Cloak.
– +20K SR Prize.
Third place:
– The Bronze Cloak.
– +10K SR Prize.
The Audience Storyteller: The winner of the audience votes among all other contestants will receive the “Cloak of Misk Audience.”
