“Hakaya Misk” in Historic Jeddah

The Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Foundation “MiSK” is getting ready to launch the fifth session of “Hakaya Misk” in Historic Jeddah in May 9-13, 2017 (14-18 Ramadan, 1438 A.H.). Throughout its five-day session, “Hakaya Misk” is expected to offer educational, cultural, media, and literary programs and activities for Saudi youth aiming to promote awareness and creativity.

“Hakaya Misk” was organized previously in four sessions held in Riyadh, King Abdullah Economic City in Makkah, Dhahran in Eastern Province, and Abha in Aseer Province. The total number of visitors of the four sessions reached over 342 thousand persons.

The Head of Media Committee of “Hakaya Misk” Festival, Mr. Yousef Alhammadi, stated that organizing the festival in Jeddah is a reflection of the successful previous sessions of the festival. He pointed out that “Historic Jeddah” is a significant choice for the festival given the area’s unique atmosphere and special activities in Ramadan. The festival aims at strengthening the Saudi cultural identity, spreading supreme values among youth, and foster their skills and talents.

According to Mr. Alhammadi, the activities of “Hakaya Misk” Festival include the Young Composer section aiming to inspire children culturally and cognitively through using applications to help them through the process of story writing starting with determining an idea to publication. The Festival also provides workshops writing, composing, and painting, in addition to interactive art galleries.

Additionally, the Festival includes the activity of “Hakaya alMurabteen” in which the soldiers at the Southern Border talk about their stories and sacrifices. Also, many short films and plays will be displayed on Hakaya Theater.

The activities of “Hakaya Misk” include the “Hakawati” (the storyteller) activity in which several stories will be told in an interesting way attracting the visitors of ““Hakaya Misk”.

The goals of “Hakaya Misk” Festival are creating educational and professional content directed to youth, diversifying training programs and conducting a plan for the professional young creatives participating in any of the festivals fields, reaching a larger scale of youth who work in the creative fields, promoting entertainment in the educational content for youth and children, and focusing on interactive and creative programs and activities.

The Festival also aims at providing intensive training sessions for creative people before the festival, establishing mechanisms and methods to presenting and creating interactive training programs, enforcing communication channels between the participating entities and the visitors, supporting and enabling talented youth, especially in festivals and events industry, creating solid advertisement plans prior and during the festival to ensure reaching the targeted audience, and encouraging the process of content and products creation through the multiple festival platforms as well as documenting and spreading this output through the various media outlets.
